A photo booth that is in the wrong spot, without power or blocked at load-in, is the most avoidable problem at any event. This guide is for couples, planners and venue coordinators: exactly how much space each of our booths needs, what power and setup look like, where to put the booth so guests actually use it, and the venue paperwork to sort out in advance.
Space and power by booth
| Booth | Floor space | Height | Power | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glam Booth | About 8 × 8 ft | 63 in (88 in with the light umbrella) | One standard outlet | Open booth; backdrop behind the guests |
| 360 Booth | About 8 × 8 ft for the booth; plan about 12 × 12 ft of clear floor for the arm’s swing | Low platform | One standard outlet | 3–4 guests per video; keep the swing area clear |
| Mochi Booth | About 8 × 8 ft | 77.75 in; unit 39.25 in wide × 20.4 in deep | One standard outlet | 21.5-inch touchscreen |
| Vintage Booth | About 8 × 8 ft | Enclosed cabinet | One standard outlet | Guests step inside behind a curtain |
Booking two booths? Plan for two 8 × 8 spaces and an outlet near each one. If the closest outlet is far away, tell us in advance so we bring the right cable runs and keep them taped and safe.
Where to put the booth
- Near the action. Next to the bar, the dance floor or the path between them. Guests use what they walk past.
- Visible from the room. A booth tucked into a hallway or side room is the classic reason a booth gets ignored.
- Room for a line. Leave a few feet in front of the booth so a line doesn’t block a doorway or the dance floor.
- Away from bright backlight. A big window or a spotlight behind guests fights the booth’s lighting.
- Not in the speaker zone. Right in front of the DJ’s speakers makes it hard for the attendant to help guests.
Indoor vs outdoor
Indoors is simplest. Outdoors works well too, as at our Calamigos Ranch lawn setup, with a few conditions:
- A level, firm surface; grass works with the right setup, gravel and slopes need a plan.
- Shade or cover for the booth and the printer, and a rain plan.
- Weighted stands when there is wind.
- Power within reach, or a quiet power source the venue approves.
- Lighting after sunset if the area goes dark.
Setup, timing and breakdown
- We set up before guests arrive, so setup never counts against your booked hours.
- Tell us about load-in early: loading dock or street, stairs or elevator, how far from the parking area to the room, and any load-in window the venue sets.
- Breakdown happens after your booking ends. Let us know the venue’s hard out time.
Venue paperwork: the certificate of insurance
Many hotels, estates and event venues require every vendor to provide a certificate of insurance (COI), often naming the venue (and sometimes the planner or show management) as additional insured. Convention centers set requirements per show, so check the exhibitor manual. We carry liability insurance and send the certificate directly to your venue; just share the venue’s requirements when you book.
A quick checklist to send your venue
- Booth type and count, with the space each needs (table above).
- The outlet location for each booth.
- Load-in route, dock or parking, and the arrival time.
- The venue’s COI requirements.
- The event end time and breakdown window.

Get startedFrequently asked questions
How much space does a photo booth need?
Plan on about 8 by 8 feet per booth and one standard outlet nearby. A 360 booth needs about 12 by 12 feet of clear floor for its rotating arm.
Does a photo booth need a special outlet?
No. Each LA Glam Booth booth runs on one standard outlet. Let us know if the nearest outlet is far from the booth location.
Can a photo booth be set up outside?
Yes, on a level, firm surface with shade or cover, a rain plan, weighted stands for wind and power within reach.
How long does photo booth setup take, and does it count toward my hours?
We set up before guests arrive, so setup does not count against your booked hours.
Do venues require insurance from photo booth vendors?
Many do. Venues often ask for a certificate of insurance naming them as additional insured. LA Glam Booth carries liability insurance and sends the certificate to your venue.
Where is the best place to put a photo booth at a wedding?
Near the bar or dance floor, visible from the room, with space for a short line and away from bright backlight and speakers.
