A South Asian wedding is rarely one party. Many families celebrate across a weekend: a haldi, a mehndi, a sangeet, the ceremony and a reception, often at different venues, with a different outfit and color story for each. That makes a photo booth more useful than at almost any other wedding, as long as it is planned around the events. Here is how we approach Indian and South Asian weddings across Los Angeles and Orange County.
Traditions vary widely by region, religion and family (Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Jain, Christian and interfaith couples all celebrate differently), so treat this as a starting point and tell us how your family does it.
Which events need a photo booth?
| Event | What happens | Booth fit |
|---|---|---|
| Haldi | Turmeric blessing; guests often wear yellow | Fun, but messy: place the booth away from the turmeric, or skip it |
| Mehndi | Henna, often a day or two before; long seated stretches while it dries | Good with an attendant, since guests can’t use their hands |
| Sangeet | An evening of music, dance and family performances | Excellent: high energy, dressed up, on their feet |
| Ceremony | Baraat, then the ceremony (or Anand Karaj at a gurdwara, or nikah) | Usually not the moment for a booth |
| Reception | The big party | Excellent: the biggest guest count of the weekend |
If you book one event, make it the reception or the sangeet. If you book two, do both: they are the two nights most guests are dressed up, dancing and in a mood for photos.
Booking a booth for more than one event
- Multi-event weekends are quoted as a package. Tell us each event, date, venue and guest count, and we price the weekend together.
- Design a print for each event. Marigold and yellow for haldi, bright colors for mehndi, a black-tie look for the reception: the same booth with a different template makes every night feel distinct.
- Large guest counts need two booths. For 300+ guests, a second booth (or more hours) keeps lines short. A popular pairing is a Glam Booth for prints and a 360 Booth for the sangeet dance floor.
Choosing the booth
- Glam Booth: studio lighting and a soft beauty filter in flattering black and white, which looks timeless with lehengas, sherwanis and jewelry. Color prints are available too.
- 360 Booth: slow-motion video made for the sangeet: twirls, dupattas and group dances.
- Mochi Booth: Korean purikura-style strips with stickers and drawing, fully customizable down to the wrap, popular with younger crowds.
- Themed sets: a custom backdrop or set, like the movie-premiere marquee we built for one couple’s wedding, turns the booth into a photo moment of its own.
Venues and logistics in Southern California
- Hotel ballrooms such as the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach, a popular choice for large South Asian weddings, make setup easy: indoor power, room for two booths, and a hotel loading route.
- Multiple venues are common: a sangeet at one hotel and a reception at another. We handle the move and confirm load-in with each venue.
- Outdoor events such as haldi or mehndi in a garden need shade, a level surface and power within reach.
- Insurance: many venues ask for a certificate of insurance; we send it directly.
- Travel is a flat $150 anywhere in LA County, Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Plan my weekendFrequently asked questions
Which Indian wedding events should have a photo booth?
The reception and the sangeet are the best fit: guests are dressed up, dancing and in the mood for photos. Mehndi works with an attendant; haldi is best skipped or set up away from the turmeric.
Can we book one photo booth for several wedding events?
Yes. LA Glam Booth quotes multi-event weekends as one package, with a different print design for each event if you like.
Do we need two photo booths for a large Indian wedding?
For about 300 or more guests, two booths or extra hours keep lines short. A Glam Booth for prints plus a 360 Booth for the dance floor is a popular pairing.
Can the photo booth prints match each event's colors?
Yes. We design a template per event, such as yellow and marigold for haldi or a black-tie look for the reception.
How much does a photo booth cost for an Indian wedding in Los Angeles?
Wedding packages start at $1,250 for a 3-hour Glam Booth and $1,350 for a 360 Booth. Multi-event weekends and second booths are quoted together; travel is a flat $150 in LA, Orange County and the Inland Empire.
