The company holiday party is the one night a year the whole team is in one room, dressed up, with nothing on the agenda except celebrating. A photo booth gives that night a center: people who would never ask for a photo line up together, teams that only see each other on video calls end up in the same strip, and everyone leaves with something to pin on their desk in January.

We photograph company events, galas and parties across Los Angeles and Southern California for clients including Netflix, Peacock, Life360 and the University of La Verne. Here is how to plan a holiday party booth that people actually use.

When to book

Most companies hold their party in December, with many in November and a growing number in January. In Tripleseat’s survey of 500 corporate holiday planners, 49% held their event in December, 28% in November and 21% in January. Friday and Saturday nights in the first three weeks of December go first, so book as early as you can. If your date is already set, check availability now; if you are flexible, a January party is easier to book and gives the team something to look forward to after the holidays.

Pick the booth for your crowd

  • Glam Booth: studio-lit black & white portraits that make everyone look their best. It is the most-booked option for black-tie and cocktail parties, and every guest leaves with a print.
  • 360 Booth: slow-motion video with your branded overlay and music. Great for high-energy parties and teams that love posting.
  • Mochi Booth: a Korean purikura-style booth where guests decorate their photos with digital stickers, which can be your own holiday and company stickers.
  • Vintage Booth: a classic enclosed booth with a curtain and bench, ideal for a speakeasy, retro or "winter lodge" theme.
  • The Portrait Lounge: a photographer and editorial lighting for real portraits of every guest, a favorite for leadership dinners and award nights.

For 200+ guests, two booths keep lines short: a Glam Booth for prints plus a 360 Booth for video is the most popular pairing.

12 holiday party photo booth ideas

  1. Brand the print, not just the backdrop. Your logo, the party name and the year on every strip turns a photo into a keepsake people keep.
  2. Match the theme. Winter white, black and gold, a "Hollywood holiday" red carpet or a casino night: we design the template, backdrop and props to fit.
  3. Go black & white for black tie. The Glam Booth’s editorial look suits formal parties and flatters everyone under any venue lighting.
  4. Make team photos a moment. Ask department leads to bring their teams to the booth at set times; these become the photos people share all year.
  5. Add custom stickers. On the Mochi Booth, guests can decorate their photos with your company’s own stickers: the mascot, inside jokes, the year.
  6. Run a live slideshow. A screen showing photos as they are taken pulls more people to the booth.
  7. Hand out keepsakes. Leather photo keychains or photo magnets make an easy, personal holiday gift.
  8. Use the photos internally. The online gallery is ready for the year-end recap, the intranet and the January all-hands.
  9. Capture contacts at client parties. If clients or partners are invited, guest email capture and CRM integration turn the booth into follow-up.
  10. Mind the timing. Open the booth during cocktail hour and keep it running through the dancing; pause it during speeches and awards.
  11. Plan the placement. Near the bar or the dance floor, never tucked in a hallway. Each booth needs about 8 by 8 feet and one outlet.
  12. Send the venue paperwork early. Hotels and event spaces often require a certificate of insurance from every vendor; we send it directly to your venue.
